About Maria Teresa
On Maternity leave until October 5th, 2026
The Rev. Maria Teresa Bautista-Berrios graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2018 and recently received her Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. Before pursuing her call to ordained ministry, she worked as a community organizer for TMO, a campus mission associate for Houston Canterbury, and a church planter for Northshore Episcopal Church. As a proud PK (priest-kid), Maria Teresa is the daughter of the Reverend Simón Bautista Betances and Amarilis Vargas-Bautista. She is married to Fabian Berrios, and together they have their beloved and beautiful daughter, Camila, and their sweet pup, Noelani. Following her ordination in June 2024, Maria Teresa has been called to serve as the curate at Trinity Episcopal Church, where she is excited to learn and serve. When she returns in October, she will assume her new role as Associate Rector.

Thank you for the love, prayers, and support you have poured out over us throughout this pregnancy. It has been life-giving and a true blessing.
Thank you, too, for the beautiful baby shower and the many wonderful gifts. We were so touched by your generosity. I am looking forward to meeting our baby boy and to some sacred time with our family.
Please know that even in our absence we will be missing you and holding you in prayer. I’ll return to the office on Monday, October 5th, and can’t wait to see you all then.
