Juneteenth commemorates the delayed arrival of freedom – on June 19, 1865 – when the last enslaved people in Texas finally learned of their emancipation, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day to remember, reflect, and recommit to the work of racial justice and beloved community.
