Youth Education

Youth Forum

Our Sunday youth forum meets in the youth room at 9:30 a.m. and is intended for those who are in Grades 6-12.

We begin the class at 9:30 am. We usually allow approximately 15-20 minutes of casual activities in the form of pool or ping pong. Then, we engage in discussion until returning to the 10:30 service at the passing of the peace.

Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.)

A Youth Encounter Spirit (Y.E.S.) weekend brings together members of the 6th-8th-grade youth of the Diocese of Texas as a Christian community. The focus is on "who Christ is." Y.E.S. helps foster a clearer appreciation of self, richer relationships with others, and a deeper experience with Jesus. The aim is for those who attend to discover new things about themselves, their relationships, God, and the church. The weekend is designed to provide an atmosphere of openness where participants can ask questions and have the freedom to explore answers without fear of judgment. A team of adults and teens plan and run the weekend. There are two adults who are called "Lead Adults," and at least one priest who is called the "Spiritual Director." Music and games are a very important part of the weekend.

The registration fee for the Y.E.S. weekend is $75 and includes meals and lodging.

Happening

A weekend renewal retreat for high school youth in the Diocese of Texas, The Happening Movement is a powerful instrument of renewal in the Church. Its purpose is to concentrate closely on the person and teaching of Jesus Christ. Our faith is seriously examined in a relaxed, fun, informal, and loving atmosphere. The Happening weekend is an experience that gives those who attend the desire to understand and serve God through his Church.

Happening #166: March 6-8, 2020 at Camp Allen
