Although Maria Teresa may not be well-known to our community yet, her husband, Fabian, served as our Youth Missioner from 2019 to 2021. Some may also know her father, the Reverend Canon Simón Bautista Betances, who is on staff at Christ Church Cathedral.
In the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, newly-ordained clergy are usually placed as curates for two years to give them a chance to learn the ins and outs of parish ministry under the guidance of the parish’s rector.
Maria Teresa will initially serve as a deacon and then be ordained to the priesthood in early 2025.
Look for Maria Teresa, Fabian, and their little girl, Camila, to join us in July.
